Sevena Villa - A Family Friendly Villa with Pool in Weligama, Sri Lanka
Villas in Weligama, Sri Lanka
Description
The architecture is self-designed, the grounds are left deliberately wild, and the result is a property where peacocks pick their way across the lawn, monkeys move through the trees above the pool terrace, and a mongoose occasionally appears from the undergrowth as if to check what you're having for breakfast. Guests mention the wildlife more often than almost anything else.
Six bedrooms sleep up to 16 guests, with a private pool, a dedicated yoga shala, and a full staff team including an in-house chef. Sevena is a Luxury Collection Sri Lanka SELECT property, personally inspected by our team and monitored regularly rather than simply listed and left.

The Property and It's Design
The design sits somewhere between traditional Sri Lankan architecture and something a Brooklyn studio might have dreamed up if handed a few acres of tropical land and no brief. Exposed brick walls rise to high vaulted ceilings in the main living room. The tone is warm and earthy, rough-cut stone, dark timber, handpicked furnishings that feel considered rather than assembled. French windows run through the ground floor, pulling the garden inside or letting you step onto the veranda without quite deciding which you'd rather be.
This is not a villa trying to look like a luxury property. It simply is one, and guests who arrive expecting the photographs consistently report the place exceeds them.
Six Bedrooms
The master bedroom has a king bed and opens directly onto a private terrace with pool views, the kind of room where you don't draw the curtains because the view earns the morning. Four further bedrooms each have queen beds, comfortable and well-proportioned, with the same French windows and garden outlook that run through the rest of the house. The sixth is a dedicated bunk room with two sets of singles, which makes the configuration genuinely practical for families travelling with children.
Four bathrooms serve the property, each with a rainfall shower, bidet and proper toiletries, and hot water on demand throughout. Baby cots and high chairs are available, and guests note the beds themselves as a highlight, a small thing that matters a great deal on a long stay.
Indoor Living
The main sala has the kind of living room you don't want to leave in the evenings: plush sofas, books worth reading, a large TV for the nights when nobody wants to move, and a vaulted ceiling giving the room a sense of scale photographs never capture. Balconies off the upper rooms are where guests take their morning coffee.
The dining room has an unhurried quality, ornately carved chairs around a table that seats the whole group, French windows over the pool and garden. In practice it becomes the social centre of the villa: groups describe long dinners running into card games and board games around the same table. Fresh herbs come from the villa's own garden, which matters more than it sounds.
The Yoga Shala
This is the feature most villas in Weligama can't offer and most guests don't expect to find. Sevena has its own dedicated yoga shala, a private, sheltered space for practice with the sounds of the garden all around it. For groups who want a structured morning routine away from a public class, it changes the character of a stay considerably.
Guests have had instructors come to the villa for sessions, and spa treatments arranged on site as well. Book a visiting teacher through LCSL, or simply use the space quietly at your own pace.
The Pool and Garden
The turquoise pool sits at the centre of the garden, ringed by sun loungers and shaded by a canopy of tropical trees. Extensive lawns stretch around it, open enough for children to run in, and open enough that one group fitted in a game of cricket, wild enough at the edges to feel genuinely immersed in the landscape rather than sitting in a managed resort garden.
The outdoor dining area and veranda connect inside and out effortlessly. Barbecue evenings here, with the garden lit and the wildlife settled for the night, are the sort of thing groups plan to do once and end up doing every other night. Separate towels are provided for the pool, which is exactly the kind of small detail that tells you how the villa is run.
Dining and the Chef
Sevena is fully staffed with an in-house chef at the centre of the experience. The kitchen works across Sri Lankan, Asian and Western cuisine, adapts to dietary requirements and children's tastes without making an issue of it, and takes visible pride in the food. Guests name egg hoppers, tuna curry, chicken with roast cashews, fresh seafood and the desserts specifically, and more than one has said the meals were better than anything they ate in Weligama's restaurants.
Meals are served wherever the group prefers, the dining room, the veranda, poolside, or spread across the garden on a good evening, and served punctually, with preferences and intolerances remembered from the first day. Grocery costs for ingredients are payable separately; our team will explain how this works before you book so there are no surprises.
Location and Nearby
Sevena sits in a quiet lane off the main coastal road, far enough out to be genuinely private and quiet, close enough to reach everything easily. It's a countryside setting rather than a beach one, and that's the trade-off that buys you the garden, the wildlife and the calm.
Turtle Bay Beach is a three-minute drive. Midigama Beach, one of the south coast's most consistent surf breaks, is also three minutes. Weligama Bay, where the beginner and intermediate surf schools operate and the café strip runs along the sand, is ten minutes by tuk tuk. Mirissa, for whale and dolphin watching between November and April, is thirteen minutes. Ahangama is close by, and Galle Fort around 50 minutes up the coast highway.
For longer days out, Udawalawe elephant reserve is under two hours and Yala National Park roughly two and a half. The villa team will arrange tuk tuks, drivers, surf lessons and excursions, and since the lane can be tricky to find the first time, they'll guide your driver in on arrival.
Ideal For
Families with children, multi-generational groups, and groups of friends who want space, a pool, a yoga shala and a private chef without paying beachfront prices. The bunk room, baby equipment and enclosed garden make it especially easy for families with young children, and the wildlife in the garden entertains them for free.

My family had the most wonderful stay here on the last leg of our Sri Lanka trip. We knew it would be the best of the places we stayed just from the photos, but we were not prepared for just how little the photos did the place justice, but more importantly, the incredible staff there. The house was gorgeous, beautifully set out to maximise comfort, everything you would need was accounted for. But it was Kavindu & Eranda who made the stay as incredible as it was. They took such great care of us, and Erandas food was 10/10 every single time, making any requests so very well especially for our children. He tailored to their requests while also making incredible authentic local cuisine for the adults followed by the best desserts.
Kavindu I can't praise enough. He took such good care of us always with a smiling face and always ready to help. Our stay was so wonderful because of him and I can't thank him enough for everything he did to make sure our trip ended on the highest of notes. We never wanted to leave!! Thank you Kavindu, Eranda, and the team ❤️
We all had an amazing stay at hotel Sevena. The staff were all absolutely amazing. Kaindu, in particular, was so kind, helpful and attentive - he really made our stay special and we are so grateful. Nothing was too much trouble. The setting was beautiful - so calming. Lots of wildlife too! It was so clean and comfortable, the food was delicious. 100% would recommend. Thank you!
Loved our time in the villa. Lovely house on a beautiful property, great rooms and service. Is a little bit far out of town, but the villa team were happy to help organise tuk tuks.
We stayed in June 2026. The villa was immaculate from the beginning of our stay until the end. The food was amazing and the service provided by everyone was fantastic. This was the perfect stay for our family. We really enjoyed the living spaces and bedrooms. It was very peaceful. The location is also perfect for visiting so many popular towns close by including Weligama, Ahangama and Mirissa. Would highly recommend this villa and can’t wait to be back
Everyone had a great time. The manager was extremely helpful in arranging activities like yoga sessions and spa treatments at the villa. The staff were warm and welcoming, while still giving us plenty of privacy and space to relax. The villa itself was spacious and comfortable, with more than enough room for our group. Overall, a really enjoyable and well-managed stay.

We had a great stay at Sevena Villa. I loved seeing the animals that would pop into the yard. Monkeys, peacocks and Mongoose. Kavindu was fantastic and always helpful.

Beautiful house, the staff (Kovindu, Eranga, and Sandru) were very welcoming and available at all times. We stayed from January 22nd to 25th as a family and we all loved this villa, especially the pool!
We will come back next time and stay longer.
We had the most beautiful stay at Sevena villa. From the moment we arrived, it felt peaceful, spacious and thoughtfully designed. The interiors were elegant yet comfortable, with attention to detail that made it feel both luxurious and welcoming.
The bedrooms were generous and private, the beds incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms immaculate. The kitchen was fully equipped and perfect for relaxed meals, while the outdoor area was a true highlight, morning coffee by the pool and evenings spent unwinding in total serenity.
What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was the wonderful staff. Every need was taken care of with warmth, attentiveness and genuine care. Nothing felt like too much trouble. Their presence made the stay not only comfortable, but deeply relaxing, we felt completely looked after from beginning to end.
The location was ideal, private and quiet, yet close enough to everything we needed. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this villa to anyone wanting a seamless, restorative escape.
We had a really special family holiday with three generations at Sevena Villa. The villa is outside Welligama in the countryside with a lovely pool, beautiful garden and lots of visiting wildlife which the kids loved. The whole team took really good care of us and the food at the villa was better than anything we ate outside. Recommend really highly for families or friends.
We have had 6 wonderful days in Sevena Villa! Lovely house and garden, lovely pool, clean and tidy - very quiet area where you can really relax and see/hear a lot of different animals.
Fantastic staff, who were available when we needed them - and who in a very pleasant way made sure that everything was clean and tidy at all times and we could just sit back and enjoy our holiday.
The food tasted good, although we think the price was a bit on the high side compared to what we have paid in other villas and restaurants - and the portions were very small. This concept could be looked at again, as it is way overpriced for the ingredients!
We had an expectation of a functional kitchen, as we wanted to cook breakfast ourselves - this was not the case, however. We did find a solution with the landlord.
All in all, a good stay and can definitely be recommended.
We were a group of 14 people, and we felt right at home. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and took care of every detail! We will definitely be back.
Don’t skip on this villa!
The villa and grounds are beautiful with visiting peacocks and monkeys in the trees.
It has the comfort and ease of home but with the luxury and service of a 5* hotel. Kavindu made sure our every need taken care of and Eranda cooked us the most delicious food all week. Our favourites were Egg Hoppers, Tuna Curry, Chicken and Roast Cashews.
We didn’t want to leave. Thank you for the most amazing week.

Amazing weekend spent at this beautiful condo with a big group. Jackie and team were superb and the food they prepared for us was way better than any restaurant we went to in Weligama!
Sevena Villa played home to our group of 7 friends and an infant for almost a week, and is definitely a highlight of our entire Sri Lankan holiday. The villa exceeded our expectations, with very well done up and comfortable spaces, a fully equipped kitchen, loads of sunshine and most importantly a team of caretakers who really go above and beyond. Every meal was made with love and Janaka along with the assistance of Kavindu and others ensured that we were taken care of throughout our stay. Fresh towels (separate for bath and the pool), rooms cleaned and beds made every morning, meals served on the clock (keeping our intolerances and preference in mind), and the kitchen always spic and span!
We made use of every part of the house - the pool during the day and in the evenings, the dining table not only for amazingly flavourful meals but also for multiple games of Catan, the couches while we watched television or lounged, the balconies for cups of coffee while you soak in the sun, the kitchen (where I managed to bake a cake) and the lawns where the boys even managed to fit in a friendly match of cricket!
We’re definitely going to be recommending this property to loads of friends and family!
Our stay at Sevana Villa was nothing short of exceptional. The villa itself was beautiful , lush greenery and just a short distance from the Weligama beach. The rooms, private pool, and outdoor area provided the perfect setting for relaxation and enjoyment.
Chef Janaka was a culinary expert. His dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. From fresh seafood to traditional Sri Lankan curries, every meal was a delightful experience. The other staff members, Kavinda and Gayan, were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that our every need was met.
