Designed by world-renowned Pritzker Architecture Prize-winner Shigeru Ban, a leading Japanese architect, the villa has a striking modern design that emphasizes space and natural light. It is a multi-level, open-air structure composed of a series of platforms – accessed by stairs – designed to provide sensational vistas of the ocean, cliffs, and jungles at every turn, using the intersecting floor, wall, and ceiling panels to frame different views. The villa is a blend of traditional Sri Lankan architecture and modern style, built out of concrete, local teak, and coconut leaves.
